Violinst

Dr. Wei Jia performs widely on the international stage as a concerto soloist, recitalist, and festival guest artist in North America, Europe, and Asia.

 

In recital, Dr. Jia has appeared at Guiyang Grand Theater in China, Kauffman Center in Kansas City, Opera America Marc Scorca hall in New York.  Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Michigan, Michigan State University, The University of Central Oklahoma, University of Erlangen–Nuremberg in Germany, and Sichuan Conservatory of Music.

 

Dr. Jia is currently a member of the Midland Symphony Orchestra, Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra, Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra, Alma Symphony Orchestra, and Traverse City Symphony Orchestra.  He is a former member of the New Mexico Philharmonic, Guiyang Philharmonic, and Enid Symphony Orchestra. As the Soloist and Concert Master of the Blue Lake International Orchestra, Wei Jia has performed in many cities in Germany, Luxemburg, and France. As a member of numerous prestigious orchestras, he has appeared on the stages of Kauffman Center in Kansas City, Shanghai Oriental Arts Center, National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, Shenyang Culture Artistic Center, and Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay in Singapore. he has collaborated with many notable artists such as Gary Graffman, Bin Huang Sarah Chang, Ning Feng, Ilya Kaler, Joshua Bell, Yundi li, lang lang, and many others.

 

In addition to his busy performance schedule, Wei Jia has served on the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp faculty in Michigan; He is the founder of the BAILU Concert series and BAILU Chamber Ensemble in New York City. He is passionate about creating innovative ways to reach new audiences. He gave many lectures in Manhattan and online; he strives to bring high-quality performance opportunities to the young classical musicians in NYC and, most notably and ultimately, put the barrier down between Classical music and the audience.  

 

Born into a musical family in China and began playing music at the age of 5. Wei Jia holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Sichuan Conservatory of Music and a Master of Music degree from The University of Central Oklahoma; and a doctoral degree in Violin performance at Michigan State University. His primary teachers include Dmitri Berlinsky, Walter Verdehr, Hong Zhu, and Mingnan He.
